Master Degree
Master degree in Ukraine is an educational degree following Bachelor degree. Universities that train for a master degree in various fields must have IV level of accreditation. Master degree can be awarded by a higher education institution only provided that foreign student fully fulfills all the requirements of the relevant educational program.
Any Master program includes in-depth fundamental, humanitarian, socio-economic, psychological-pedagogical, special and scientific-practical training. Also, it must include a research component (approximately 30 percent of the whole educational program).
There are some fields of studies where students cannot finish their education at the Bachelor level – Master degree is obligatory in such cases. For example, medical, pharmaceutical, veterinary or law (in case of the targeted training commissioned by the law enforcement agencies) specializations require the so called “indivisible Master degree”. Thus, foreigners wishing to become doctors, for example, cannot enter Master program in Ukraine – they should start from a Bachelor level.
Student who has successfully completed educational program of master’s training and passed certification is awarded Master degree and assigned appropriate qualification by the institution of higher education on the basis of the examination commission decision.
